WORK EXPERIENCE: Current Position
Position: Software Engineer, Mundipharma IT Services Ltd (MITS)
Summary: MITS provides IT Services and support to the Mundipharma group of associated companies across EMEA and the Far East (including Napp - see my previous role). My role in the company is in the "Application Services" team that designs, builds, implements and supports business systems in the associated companies. Top projects include;
  • Implemented NoetixViews for Oracle e-Business Suite. The NoetixViews product is essentially a new reporting layer for Oracle. As part of the implementation a migration project was kicked off to move us from Business Objects 6.5 to SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) 2008R2. We have recently completed this project which included configuration of SSRS in SharePoint integrated mode
  • Acting as technical lead to support a migration to Release 12 of Oracle e-Business Suite. This included significant areas of work building a new caching system for Lot Genealogy (Oracle Process Manufacturing) reporting, and implementing significant performance enhancements for Finance Sub-Ledger Accounting (SLA) reporting
  • Technical Lead on a deployment of Bankline Software to Mundipharma France to provide an interface between their Finance System (Sun Accounts) and their banks
In general I'll deliver around 6 or 7 major projects in a year as well as performing 3rd line support duties for systems already in place.

My technical skill set is centered around Database Development (OraclePL/SQL, and SQL Server)  although I have done some C Sharp and Xcode (for iPad) development.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Previous Positions
Position: Software Engineer, Napp Pharmaceuticals Ltd (7th July 2006 to 31st December 2011)
Summary: I worked as part of the Software Engineering function within the IT Department supporting the Napp and Mundipharama Group of Independently Associated Companies. My role was to implement IT solutions to business problems, I was primarily focussed on supporting Finance, Procurement, and Production functions within the business.
  • Technical Lead on a team implementing Oracle Internet Expenses (11i) for Head Office including all parts of the project process
  • As part of an Oracle Internet Expenses implementation (a modular add-on for Oracle e-Business Suite) designing a process and building an interface to allow the automatic processing of credit card transactions from our credit card provider straight into the system
  • Supported Maximo 4 for Engineering including offering several bespoke customisations and reports to solve business problems. Including migration of reporting from Business Objects 6.5 to SQL Server Reporting Services 2005
Position: Systems Analyst, Convergys EMEA Ltd (11th June 2002 to July 2006)
Summary: Working within a team of Windows User-Interface Software Engineers. Responsibilities included the development of end-user configuration applications to support the Convergys Infinys Product. This was centered around development of the Active Rating Engine (previously referred to as "Geneva") that is used by many international companies such as Euro Disney, Sprint, NTL, and BT.
  • Working on both small and large projects; some for a few users (using PHP with an Oracle back-end to develop web-sites to report on active issues being tackled across development), as well as projects that have been used by Convergys clients around the world
  • Developing and using Unix shell scripts, PHP web pages, Perl scripts and Java-based tools to manage build processes (Additional work was performed rationalising the tool set used to concentrate on Java as a scripting language with PHP web pages)
  • Migrated existing business logic from Delphi source code into Oracle PL/SQL packages (including being part of the team that developed a PL/SQL framework similar to that developed for Delphi). In addition, this included documenting the changes (both as a design document for the new Delphi Component that would access the Oracle Package and a "Business Rules Summary" document detailing the business rules included in the API)
  • Performed the Component Analysis which covered the impact of adding support of Oracle 10g to our product range. Acted as a single point of contact for developers, and other system analysts for work integrating the support for features of Oracle 10g (i.e. RAC). The migration project completed on time
  • In 2004 I assumed sole responsibility for the maintenance and development of business reports. This work included the migration of the existing reports to Crystal Reports 10 (from 7, 8, and 8.5) as well as the creation of a reporting framework that allowed shared PL/SQL components to be used across the reporting sub-system reducing the amount of code by about 1/5 in a single release (9 months) and potentially reducing the subsystem from 7000+ lines of code down to around 800 not only without any loss of functionality but with greatly enhanced end-user features
  • Designed and developed automated testing tools that allow for most PL/SQL stored procedures/functions to be tested automatically on the many different platforms (HP64, TRU64, Linux, Solaris, etc) and oracle versions (8, 9i, 9i2, and 10g) Convergys deploys on
Position: Systems Developer, Vodafone UK Limited (November 1997 to June 2002)
Summery: Worked within the IT Department supporting the rest of the business including the UK call centres.
  • Developer using Borland Delphi (versions 3 and 5) against an Oracle database
  • Developed a (now defunct) Coverage Viewer for the Vodafone UK website using Java Script and HTML
  • Evaluated Microsofts' .Net (beta 2). Including developing some sample web services using C# (for example sending SMS messages)
  • Migrated the major Marketing and Reporting database from Oracle 7 to Oracle 8 as part of preparation for the Millennium rollover. This database contained subscriber tariff information going back to 1994
  • Migrated several support systems from Oracle to SQL Server (particularly systems that used web-based interfaces). This was during a process of rationalisation where Vodafone was attempting to migrate systems from Oracle to SQL Server to save on licensing charges, and where Vodafone was attempting to speed up HR/ Finance functions by replacing existing paper-based systems with web-based ones
